WILLARD CITY CERT SHAKE OUT DAY SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

GREAT UTAH SHAKE OUT   THURSDAY,  APRIL 16, 2026

All CERT members are encouraged to respond and participate in all of the activities.

What’s Happening and When:

MORNING
9:00 AM:   Every CERT member will receive a SLICKTEXT reminder message.  (DO NOT REPLY TO GROUP SLICKTEXT MESSAGES)

10:15 AM: SIREN AT FIRE STATION WILL SOUND

10:15 AM: Wherever you are, participate in the DROP, COVER, and HOLD ON activity. Talk about what you would do if you were in your current location during a real earthquake

10:20 AM: FRS Radio Check-In   Use main Channel 9, Sub channel 11.   Follow call-in instructions.  Relay as needed.  **Do a radio battery check before April 16th. 

10:20 AM: GMRS Radio Check-In    Use Channel 19.    Follow call-in instructions If you have both FRS and GMRS Radios - check-in with both radios.  Good practice.

10:30 AM:  Post a COLORED paper from your Take Action Packet in a “visible from the street” location at your home and/or business. p[

• RED -- Need urgent help

• YELLOW -- Need help, not urgent

• GREEN -- Things are good.

12:00 PM: HAM Radio Operators CALL OUT.   

• Use 145.430 (Box Elder Repeater)   After the net is established, members will be instructed to use SIMPLEX frequency 146.440 for practice activity. 

5:00 - 6:30 PM:  Walk your NEIGHBORHOOD.  Check homes for colored papers.  

1.  Document the number of homes you checked and the number and color of participating homes.        

2.  Report this information to your Phone Tree Captain by 7 PM.  

• (Before 7pm, you will receive a SMS text message containing your Phone-Tree Captain's contact info)

EVENING

6:00 - 7:00 PM: BAY MANAGER’s Response Activity    Managers report to assigned location

7:00 PM: SIREN AT FIRE STATION WILL SOUND

7:00 PM  GMRS and FRS Radio Training Activity   For: ALL new Owners and/or to refresh your skills and learn more

• FRS Radio Check-In  Use Channel 9, Sub channel 11.  Follow call-in instructions. 

• GMRS Radio Check-In  Use Channel 19.    Follow call-in instructions

8:30 PM: HAM Radio Operators  Check-In with Net Control on Simplex frequency 146.440. 

7:00 - 8:00 PM: CERT STORE will be open to everyone at Willard City Hall. Restock your CERT kit, pick up needed emergency prep supplies or 72 Hour Kit items.
